With both your field assignment completed and the Loyal Three royally thrashed in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s first expansion, The Teal Mask DLC, all that’s left is to conclude the story by facing off against your rivals and bringing Ogerpon home with you. But first, you have to defeat all of the above. While there are no new areas in this section, you will face Carmine and Kieran’s strongest teams to this point and take on the continually shifting Tera forms of Ogerpon. In this walkthrough, we’ll take you through all the main story objectives to complete this quest. We’ve also included information on trainer battles as you venture through Kitakami.

Fighting For a Forgiven Friend
When you’re in Mossui Town after defeating the Loyal Three, the townspeople realize that they’ve been wrong the entire time and that Ogerpon deserves praise, not scorn. With Ogerpon being hailed now as a hero(gre), you need to escort it back to the Dreaded Den.
Once you get there, however, it becomes apparent Ogerpon might want to go and travel with you. Unfortunately, Kieran wants to fight you for the right to take Ogerpon adventuring with them.

LV. 72 | Yanmega | Bug/Flying |
LV. 71 | Probopass | Rock/Steel |
LV. 76 | Giscor | Ground/Flying |
LV. 72 | Dipplin | Grass/Dragon |
LV. 72 | Poliwrath | IWater/Fighting |
Kieran has shifted a member of his old team out in exchange for a couple of new ones. He’s got a new lead-ff Mon in Shiftry, who is also holding a Focus Sash and so will stay alive at least one more turn after you almost knock it out. It is 4x weak to Big-type attacks, but Fairy-, Fire-, and Ice-type attacks also work in a pinch. Probopass is also a troublesome newcomer with Sturdy, so it will also withstand certain death throws at least once. At that, it’s holding a Petaya Berry, which will increase its special attack when its HP goes below ¼.. Ground-type attacks work best, bur Water-types can work as well - just be wary that Probopass can learn lots of Electric-type attacks and will likely try for a Zap Cannon at some point.
The rest of the team should be ones you’re familiar with and have the same strategy for taking them down - Gliscor is new, but has the same typing as Gligar, meaning it and Dipplin still have 4x weaknesses to Ice-type attacks. Gliscor is also still weak to Water, while Dipplin is still weak to Fairy- and Dragon-types. Yanmega does down to Fire-, Ice-, or Electric-type moves, and Poliwrath has Electric-, Flying-, Fairy-, Grass, and Psychic-type moves to fear.
Fighting an Ogre (and Its Layers)
Once you defeat Kieran, you’re now free to challenge Ogerpon in hopes of capturing it. What follows is more akin to a boss rush, as you’ll have to fight Ogerpon with all four masks, each with a different phase so to speak. Each battle is both a Tera battle and a Titan battle, similar to fighting the Loyal Three. At that, Ogerpon changes type with each mask.
Ogerpon’s signature move is Ivy Cudgel, a physical attack that will change to whatever type Ogerpon’s mask or Tera type is. Pay attention to this as the fight rolls on. When you reduce its HP to O every phase, it will regenerate with memories of time with you and begin anew with a fresh mask.

The first form you’ll face is Heathflame, making it a Fire-type Tera Pokemon. Assault it with Water-, Rock-, or Ground-type moves. Careful if you bring in Rock- or Ground-type Pokemon, however, as it will still know some Grass-type moves that can hit you hard. Be on the lookout for Ivy Cudgel in this form with the boosted attack.
Next is the Wellspring Mask, making Ogerpon a Water-type. Counter this with Grass- or Electric-type moves or Pokemon. It also gets a special defense increase in this mask, so make sure you don’t rely too much on special attacks, or if you do, make sure they’re guaranteed knockout hits..
Third is the Cornerstone Mask, making Ogerpon a Fighting-type. It also boosts its physical defense. It can be victimized by Flying-, Fairy-, or Psychic-type moves and Pokemon and try to focus maybe on special attacks so you don’t run into that increased physical defense.
Finally, the Teal Mask makes its glorious full-power debut and makes Ogerpon its default Grass-type. Fire-, Ice-, Flying-, Bug-, and appropriately Poison-type attacks will do big damage against the adorable girl monster (it's actually always female so far as we know).
Once you knock out its last mask Tera form, it will become prone like all other Tera raid battle Pokemon. This is your chance to capture the creature and add it to your ranks as a new friend! Once you’ve done so, you’ll also be entrusted with all of Ogerpon’s masks.
You’ll then be prompted to return to Loyalty Plaza, where Carmine will be waiting for you. She will want to battle you, but only if you have Ogerpon in your party. You don’t necessarily have to bring it in battle, but it does have to be in your party to initiate this final fight.

Trainer Battle Against Pokemon Trainer Carmine
Battle vs. Carmine | ||
---|---|---|
Lv. | Pokemon | Type |
LV. 70 | Mightyena | Dark |
LV. 71 | Morpeko | Electric/Dark |
LV. 72 | Leavanny | Bug/Grass |
LV. 72 | Ninetales (Kanto) | Fire |
LV 74 | Sinistcha | Grass/Ghost |
Carmine leads off with Intimidate Mightyena this time, meaning it’ll lower your attack right out the gate. Her Morpeko also has the Focus Sash again, meaning that the same sort of strategies that you used to take out most of her team the last time will work again. The only newcomer is the Kantonian Ninetales she has with her, which can be taken out with Water-, Rock-, or Ground-type attacks. It has some speed on it though, so it might get first hit. Leavanny is evolved from Sewaddle and has the same type, meaning Fire- and Flying-type attacks are 4x effective. Watch out for Sinistcha’s ability to burn while sapping your strength.
Once you defeat Carmine one last time, go back to the community center and approach the crowd in front of it, which will spark the final main story cutscene. At the end, you get the Kitakami Macha Set. Congratulations! You’ve just completed The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask!
